Promoting cell phone recycling and Cabot Cheese at events:
Women 4 Women is recycling cell phones at a local 5K run, walk, festival that they are co-hosting on June 21, 2008. Women's Fund of Greater Jackson is collecting cell phones at their annual meeting on June 17, 2008. Both are promoting these cell phone recycling opportunities in announcements and publicity related to the events.
Engaging local businesses:
Atlanta Women's Foundation and Women's Fund of Miami Dade are working with local law firms to get their staffs to fill cell phones recycling boxes.
Recruiting Interns:
The Women's Fund of Southeastern Massachusetts and Women's Funding Alliance are recruiting interns to take the lead to mobilizing efforts around cell phone recycling and purchasing Cabot Cheese and Butter products. Internships offer excellent opportunities to build the capacity of young leaders while experimenting with new cutting edge constituency marketing ideas.
Publish articles in newsletters and e-bulletins:
Women of the ELCA recently published an extensive article in their of Lutheran Women Today magazine which reaches over 100,000 people. Through their newsletter, AARP promoted the cell phone recycling campaign. As a result, AARP readers requested over 1,200 cell phone recycling envelopes!
Publicize opportunities through local media markets:
Women's Foundation of Southern Arizona is exploring how to utilize a local radio show to promote consumer action and connect it to the work they do to dismantle poverty. The Women's Fund of Southeastern Massachusetts is connecting with New England Cable Network about a potential Good Deed segment. Place In the Know Segments on local television stations.
